Il film su Renata

Per capire il segreto della riuscita del diario di una schizofrenica- opera all'origine dell'omonimo film-, a posteriori sarebbe facile invocare il ricorso al cinema come mezzo per azionare un successo commerciale. Facile ed ingiusto per il lavoro della Signora Sechehaye poiché dal 1951 il libro, superando le frontiere europee, apparve a New York.

Passare dal film al libro non basta a capire il successo dell'opera, più arduo sarebbe razionalizzare la riuscita cinematografica di Nelo Risi per il semplice fatto che è stata presa da un'opera di successo. Perché il successo cinematografico c'è stato. Vista la quantità di elogi che ha riempito la critica dell'epoca, si rinuncia a voler spiegare l'influenza dell'una sull'altra.

Menzione speciale all'ottava rassegna degli lncontri lnternazionali del film per la gioventù di Cannes. ln tutto nove riconoscimenti nei festival dove è stato presentato.Un risultato di cui, come per il libro, si ritrovano le tracce tra le numerose traduzioni per il pubblico straniero. A partire dalla Francia dove, anche se Ghislaine d'Orsay nel ruolo di Anna era francese, la produzione era italiana. Ma anche in Germania dove ne abbiamo ritrovato l'esistenza alla Humbold-Universitât di Berlino.

If going from film to the book is not enough to elucidate the repercussion of the work on the public, still much more perilous would be the movement which would consist in rationalizing the cinematographic success of Nelo Risi by the fact that it was drawn from a work with success. It was really a schizophrenic succes. And when one raises the expansion of praises which nourished the critical articles of the time, one definitively gives up wanting to explain the influence of the one by that of the other.

Abbiamo parlato di Ghislaine d'Orsay. Impossibile concludere senza ricordare la presenza di Margarita Lozano nel ruolo della dott. Blanche con la brillante carriera fatta (partecipazione in 35 film tra cui Manon des sources) né senza sottolineare quella dell'attore italiano Imherto Raho.
